The International Longshore and Warehouse Union and Pacific Maritime Assoc. have been in negotiations since May 12th. The current six year contract is slated to expire June 30th
The two sides are working to renew labor contracts however failure to do so may lead to a U.S. west-coast port strike. This will create heavy congestion in the port of Vancouver should this happen, as US west-coast bound ships will divert here for unloading.
